坦洲镇面积90平方公里，镇沙滩淤浅于明代。嘉靖末年，西北部丘陵地区属谷字都，后坦洲山，蜘洲山，孖洲山一带附近海面也淤积成陆。清历代将其分属其它都、镇。直至1957年划出翠微等乡，改称坦洲乡。随后1986年12月改称镇。中山市日盛酒店便于2013年5月在这历史积淀的岭南小镇---坦洲镇中悄然绽放。
The area of Tanzhou Town is 90 square kilometers, the sands of which were formed in Ming Dynasty. Last years of Jiajing in Qing Dynasty, the hilly land of its northwest belonged to Guzi County. Later, the sea near Tanzhou Mountain, Zhuzhou Mountain, Mazhou Mountain was silted up into land. During the period of Qing Dynasty, the silted-up land belonged to other township and county, till up to 1957, separated from Chuiwei and other townships, it was named Tanzhou Township. Since December of 1986, it has been called Tanzhou Town.In May, 2013, Sunrise Hotel quietly burst into bloom in the little town of Lingnan silted-up in history.
